If you’ve spent any amount of time here in Tamarindo, you know that it’s a town that is always growing and changing. But one thing here that will never change is the love of surfing.
Everywhere you go, you are reminded of surfing. From the surf trip vans carefully balancing loads of boards on their roof racks, to old boards being re-used for business signs, to people coming from or going to the beach.
Surfing is such a fundamental part of Tamarindo lifestyle and culture. It only makes sense that we would have our own surfboard factory here. You’ll find it on the road that leads out of Tamarindo toward Villarreal, the next town over.
Che Boards is the name of the factory, named after the head surfboard shaper Juan Diego “Che” Evangelista. Still a young man at 34, Juan Diego has been surfing since he was 7 years old, and building boards since he was 14. He first opened the doors to Che Boards in 2007, in the Canary Islands. He then moved the factory to Tamarindo in 2012.
He and his team of dedicated board builders are experts at designing, shaping and glassing surfboards, and are known all over the world for their high level craftsmanship. That craftsmanship can be found here at Neptuno, and is now offered in an exciting new way.
We have decided to offer Che Boards in our ‘Test Drive’ program. You can come to our shop, pick out a brand new board and take it out for a surf session for two hours, free of charge. If you like it, you can buy it, right there.
Our special partnership with Che Boards allows only Neptuno to make this offer. Right now, we are stocked with the latest, most cutting edge shapes from Che Boards, and we’ll only be adding more boards to our collection.
So come on in to Neptuno Surf Shop and take our latest Che Board out for a ride. You may have already experienced love at first sight, but you haven’t lived until you’ve experienced love at first ride!
